Who we are

Upgrade My Device is a simple tool that helps you find the best upgrade for the phone or tablet you already own. You type your device, confirm it, and we show recommended upgrades with pricing and links to buy on Amazon. That’s it — no accounts, no sign-in, no catalog to wade through.

What we collect

We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the tool:

The device you type is used only to search our device catalog and to request matching product info from Amazon. We do not tie it to your identity, and we do not sell it.
Local browser storage. To load quickly and respect Amazon’s rate limits, we cache product results in your own browser (localStorage). This stays on your device and you can clear it anytime via your browser settings.
No advertising trackers or third-party marketing cookies are set by this site.
Standard server logs. Our host (Vercel) may record routine technical data such as IP address, browser type, and request time for security and reliability, per Vercel’s privacy policy.

Amazon & product data

Real product images and live prices are retrieved through the Amazon Product Advertising API. Fetching them sends the device search terms (not your personal information) to Amazon. When you click through to buy, you leave this site and Amazon’s own privacy notice and terms apply to everything you do there, including payment and shipping.

Trade-in and pickup

If you request a trade-in, we collect the details you type into that form: your name, email, phone number, and — when you ask us to collect the device rather than dropping it off — the pickup address, plus the condition answers you give about the device. This is used for one purpose: to arrange collection, evaluate the device, and get back to you with a final offer. It is sent to us by email and is not sold, rented, or shared with advertisers.

Trade-in values shown anywhere on this site are estimates, not quotes. They come from a public heuristic based on the device model, its age, and the condition you report — not from a live market feed or a binding appraisal. The final offer is confirmed only after we receive and inspect the device, you approve that final offer before anything is finalised, and you can cancel at any point before then. We do not collect payment card or bank details through this site at any stage.

If you opt in to having your device offered to matched buyers or other traders, we may describe the device and its condition to a prospective buyer. We do not pass on your name, address, phone number, or email when we do so.

Ask us to delete a trade-in request at any time by emailing us with your reference number.

Children

This site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
